This was the questionnaire we devised as we were planning our main task. I gave out 20 of these questionnaires to 16-18 year old students as that was about the start of the age ranging we were targeting. This gave me a clear indication on peoples tastes and what they look for in a film and there was a certain correlation in what people wanted. From this i could really see what type of film we were going to make. Without doing this questionnaire I definatly would have chosen to do a different genre of film. Throughout the whole planning stage I learnt a lot about the film and the more we planned the more the film unraveled. Ending up with the best film possible, as you can see below:

Media news and does the Media boost publics opinions
Chris Moyles reprimanded over Will Young 'gay' song lyrics
Ofcom rules Radio 1 DJ's spoof lyrics could have promoted 'negative stereotypes based on sexual orientation'.
Does this really promote a negative stereotype or does the media hype bring attention to the fact? Would it have gone noticed by the masses if the coverage wasn't so large. Another example would be the Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand. Many people what they did was bad, but not as bad as it was made out to be. So the big question is does the media hype and influence people opinion.
On Yahoo! answers people believe that the government influences the media to do what they want, and therefore influence people. It is an ongoing argument that never be solved.

Updates
It has been an extremely busy time. Our film is taking shape and almost completed. We have had mid-year assessments. And still learning about film production companies.
Firstly we are completing our final touches on our film. For example we are using Livetype to make our film credits and titles. We are also perfecting the sound which is an extremely tedious job yet when it is finished will add a new dimension to the film. We have also chosen to have the whole film in black and white as we, as a group, feel that this is the most successful way of portraying our dark character. Luckily we sorted our music quite easily and early. We emailed a group called 'Rhyme Asylum', who were more than happy for us to use their music. Overall its been an enjoyable project so far and now we need to sort out directors comment and we may even do an out-takes section on our DVD.
In the other side of the Media Studies course we are covering how media institutions represent topics such as gender, disability etc. In our textual analysis mid-years we had a clip from 'Ann Frank's Diaries'. Although i did not do as well as i had hoped i can see where i went wrong and hopefully can build on this.

Here is our main planning for our film, Conflict of Interest which we started filming this weekend and got about half done trying to get as many shots as we could. The main problem was getting the light just right but in the end we had to deal with what he had.

What defines media?
Due to the excessive talk about ITV programmes such as 'Im a Celebrity Get Me Out OF Here', where they find "celebrities" and stick them in the jungle for 3 weeks, and 'Xfactor', where Simon Cowell thinks he owns the world, it made me think about what is and isnt media! Surely media is everywhere. For example, taking a trip in the car, the radio is media. MEDIA IS EVERYWHERE! So how do you know what counts as media, where is the line that lets you know what media is, and what is the opposite of Media? these questions need to be answered...Mr. VS over to you.

Added people and lessons
This week has been more to do with british films than anything else. With Mrs. Francis we have looked at working picture films such as Briget Jones Diary and Film 4 films such as This Is England which was on during the week. On both films we looked to see if they followed Todorov's pattern which, Briget J D did but This Is England fell short at the last hurdle (being the end of the film). We also looked at the types of characters in British films. I choose to study Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg in, typically British. We had character such as the hero, the father etc, and we realised that the film had each catagory of character.
In tomorrows lesson we are carrying on the planning stage of our coursework and after todays BREAKTHROUGH of having found a cartoon changing programme on the mac's our job will be a lot easier to have frames in comic and some in real life as is the plan. It should be interesting now to see how things fit together.
I have also started adding people onto my blogs.....

Recent media antics!
With Mr. VS:
Today was our first day on coursework. Many ideas were about but we came to the conclusion that we would do an action/thriller in the same style as Sin City. This means we are going to attempt to turn some of the characters into cartoon then from cartoon back to the characters. Although this is going to be a highly time consuming task we feel, in our group, that it will be worth while and the best results will come of it. We expiramented on photoshop today, and had a few attempts at making pete (fellow film maker) into cartoon. This was highly unsuccessful. But as time goes on and trail and error takes place this could turn into the next motion picture. Or not!
With Mrs.Francis:
We have looked at a skins or hollyoaks trailer or episode and analyised the 4 parts. Misse-en-scene, editing, sound and cinematography. All 4 elements were very pronounced in the skins series 2 trailer that i watched. We have also watched East is East and have made noted on the clips that we have seen on youtube to represent how this is a "british comedy". But most recently we have looked at channel 4 films and prodominatly english films with the usual Huge Grant, Simon Pegg effect.
